The Irish Small and Medium Enterprises Association has said the average payment period for small companies improved during the second quarter of this year, from 66 days to 63.

The Irish Small and Medium Enterprises Association has said the average payment period for small companies improved during the second quarter of this year, from 66 days to 63.

According to the SME credit watch survey, regarding late payments, this is the shortest period businesses recorded since 2008.

30% of those surveyed say they are experiencing delays of three months or more.

Across the country, businesses in Ulster and Munster wait longest, at 67 days, while Connacht is best at 61 days.
