IBEC: The sooner the better for Fiscal Compact referendum

A date for the EU referendum on the Fiscal Treaty is due to be announced by the Government tomorrow, with the ballot expected to take place sometime around late May.

A date for the EU referendum on the Fiscal Treaty is due to be announced by the Government tomorrow, with the ballot expected to take place sometime around late May.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny said yesterday that the date would be finalised on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, new figures released by IBEC says almost three-quarters of Irish Chief Executives think ratification of the treaty is important to the future prosperity of their business.

IBEC spokesperson Brendan Butler, said the sooner the referendum takes place, the better for Irish businesses.
