ISEQ up almost 2%

The ISEQ index of Irish shares closed up 49.13 points to 2,782.80, a gain of 1.80%.

Among the risers, Elan Corp added 32c to €9.76; Aryzta closed up 98c to €36.30; Smurfit Kappa gained 13c to €4.83; CRH was up 23c to €14.03 and Paddy Power added 68c to €41.55.

On the fallers' board, Greencore was down 4c to €0.63 while C&C closed down 2c to €2.77.
