ISEQ up almost 3%

The ISEQ index of Irish shares closed up 72.15 points to 2,682.14, a rise of 2.76%.

Among the risers, Aer Lingus added 5c or 7.46% to €0.72; Ryanair was up 14c to €3.52; C&C climbed 10c to €2.92; Smurfit Kappa gained 13c to €4.75; Irish Continental was up 39c to €14.80 and Elan Corp added 12c to €8.52.

On the fallers' board, Merrion Pharmaceutical tumbled 10c or 25% to €0.30; CRH was down 70c to €12.90 and Glanbia fell 7c to €4.53.
