A study of more than 300 family-owned Irish companies has found that 40% of them plan to increase their workforce over the next year.

The research carried out by the financial advisory firm KPMG has also found that more than three quarters of these businesses have diversified into new products or services because of the recession and the gamble is paying off for them.
