ISEQ tumbles on crisis fears
The ISEQ index of Irish shares tumbled 392.83 points to 2,663.90 today, a drop of 3.37%.
Continued political turmail and uncertainty surrounding the level of the IMF/EU bailout led to sharp falls in the major banks.
AIB fell 8c to 19.12% to €0.33, while Bank of Ireland was down 9c or 22.88% to €0.30. Irish Life & Permanent fell 9c or 10.36% to €0.75.
The downward trend was prevalent elsewhere, with Icon Ord down 75c to €14.5; CRH shedding 58c to €14.22; Kerry Group down 30c to €25.20; Kingspan slipping 16c to €6.14 and C&C 15c off at €3.23.
Smurfit Kappa closed down 11c to €7.26; Elan Corp shed 10c to €3.95 and Ryanair was down 9c to €3.79.
