ISEQ up at close

The ISEQ index of Irish shares closed up 41.61 points to 2,710.67, a rise of 1.56%.

Index majors on the rise included CRH, adding 28c to €12.32; Kingspan,up 21c to €6.05; Smurfit Kappa, adding 18c to €7.55; Ryanair, up 15c to €4.01 and Aer Lingus, adding 5c to €1.10.

On the fallers' board, Paddy Power was down 34c to €26.35, Kerry Group shed 27c to €25.67 and Elan Corp climbed 8c to €4.01.

Financial stocks were mixed, with AIB unmoved at €0.47, Bank of Ireland up 1c to €0.66 and Irish Life & Permanent gaining 8c to €1.48.
