European Union regulators have given Chinese manufacturer Geely the go-ahead to buy Sweden’s Volvo Cars.

The European Commission said it saw no anti-trust problems with Zhejiang Geely Holding’s €1.44bn acquisition of Volvo Cars from Ford because the takeover would not give either company the power to damage rivals.
