Cambodia appoint Shinawatra as economic adviser
Ousted Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has thanked Cambodia for appointing him as an economic adviser but tweeted that it “won’t be as fun” as doing the job in his native country.
The move by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen to appoint Mr Shinawatra is likely to further deteriorate relations with the current government in Bangkok.
The announcement yesterday of the appointment follows a border dispute that has led to deadly military skirmishes over the past year-and-a-half.
Mr Shinawatra sent his message from Dubai, where he has spent much of his time since being ousted in a 2006 coup.
