Woolworths considers DVD deal

British high street retailer Woolworths today confirmed it was considering the sale of its 40% stake in Little Britain and Planet Earth DVD publisher 2entertain.

The group, which runs 2entertain as a joint venture with the BBC, is reported to have appointed investment bank UBS to handle a potential sale of the DVD arm.

It is thought that UBS is in talks with potential buyers, including interested private equity groups, while the BBC is also said to be in discussions over the possibility of buying the business outright, although the BBC declined to comment today.

Woolworths said: “The company can confirm that it is considering its options with regard to this stake which may or may not lead to a transaction.”
