There is confusion this morning surrounding claims that Aer Lingus told the Government about a possible deal with Aer Arann to safeguard Shannon-Heathrow services.

Reports this morning say a note released under the Freedom of Information Act shows that Aer Lingus chairman John Sharman told Department of Transport officials about "proposals for addressing the issue of connectivity in conjunction with Aer Arann".
