Half of workers have put on weight because of their jobs, blaming unhealthy eating habits, according to a new report in the UK.

One in 10 workers questioned by jobs website careerbuilding.co.uk said they had put on more than one-and-a-half stone.

Hectic work schedules and the temptation to eat snacks throughout the day made it difficult to have a healthy diet, the study found.

Many of the 700 adults questioned said they bought food from office vending machines because of lack of time and almost half admitted eating unhealthy snacks.

Michael Farry, of Careerbuilder, said: “It is often difficult to make good decisions about food because of hectic schedules and the temptations of office treats.”
