Snack recall over hot liquid leak risk
Hundreds of thousands of Pot Noodles have been pulled from British shelves because they might leak hot liquid.
A manufacturing flaw caused cracks in a small number of the plastic pots.
This could cause “leakage of hot product”, according to Pot Noodle maker Unilever.
The firm has contacted retailers to recall the products as a precautionary measure.
Unilever spokesman Duncan Bogie said the fault came to light during routine testing.
“It appears that in a small number of cases the plastic has weakened and started to crack,” he said.
“We believe the vast majority of the affected product is not even on shop shelves. It may have affected less than 100 pots.”
Unilever has not received any complaints from customers about leaking Pot Noodles.
