Dublin Port Company today released figures for trade volumes at Dublin Port for 2006, signalling the highest volumes of trade to pass through Dublin Port in a year.

Dublin Port Company today released figures for trade volumes at Dublin Port for 2006, signalling the highest volumes of trade to pass through Dublin Port in a year.

The high trade volumes at Dublin Port demonstrates that Dublin Port continues to be the port of choice for importers and exporters as it is the most efficient way of accessing the market.

Mr. Enda Connellan, chief executive of Dublin Port Company, said: “Facilitating two-thirds of containerised trade to and from Ireland, Dublin Port continues to meet the needs of the Irish economy.

"As well given that 50% of all goods arriving at Dublin Port remain within the M50 area, Dublin Port is strategically located for importers and exports to access the Dublin and surrounding market."
