Dyson forces German firm to withdraw vacuum ads
A German firm has been forced to withdraw magazine adverts running in Ireland in a row over vacuum cleaners.
UK-based manufacturer Dyson made six advertising complaints against Miele which have been upheld by the Advertising Standards Authority.
The magazine adverts, which Dyson has already blocked in Germany, suggested the performance of a Dyson vacuum cleaner is inferior to that of a Miele machine.
Dyson boss James Dyson today claimed Miee was making false claims about the performance of its machines.
“We continue investing in and improving the substance of our machines, not the spin surrounding them,” he added.
Dyson said it invested £50m (€75.9m) in research, design and development in 2006.
