Construction activity in Ireland rose sharply again in December, as further gains in new business were made by a number of firms.

The headline Ulster Bank Construction Purchasing Managers' Index – a seasonally adjusted index designed to measure the overall performance of the construction economy – rose from 58.2 to 59.1, indicating that the rate of growth accelerated from November's four-month low.
