The Minister for Agriculture has announced compulsory labelling of beef on Irish menus.

Mary Coughlan said legislation will be introduced so that the country of origin of beef will be displayed in pubs, restaurants and take-aways.

The move has coincided with the launch of a major marketing drive for Irish beef in Britain and on the continent.
