Supermarket group Morrisons today said store openings by rival chains had eaten into sales at its core outlets over the Christmas period.

Supermarket group Morrisons today said store openings by rival chains had eaten into sales at its core outlets over the Christmas period.

The chain, based in Bradford, England, described the 0.1% increase in like-for-like sales - stripping out store openings and closures – as “acceptable” in the short term.
