Draught Guinness canned for export

Draught Guinness is to be canned for the first time in Northern Ireland and exported worldwide.

A round-the-clock operation which began in Belfast today means Diageo Global Supply will have the capacity to produce 60,000 cans an hour.

They are being exported to 63 markets worldwide.

The £2.8m (€4.2m) canning line is the latest phase of a £55m (€82.6m) investment project at the company’s plant in Belfast and will guarantee the future of just over 100 jobs.

It is the only site in Ireland where Guinness is canned.
