Harney to unveil new workplace safety scheme

The Tánaiste, Mary Harney, is due to announce details of a new North-South workplace safety initiative today.

The scheme is part of EU efforts to introduce a European version of the US Voluntary Protection Programme.

Eight Irish firms that have US parent companies are already participating in a pilot version of the programme.
