Irish firms 'unprepared' for planned accounting changes

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland has claimed that thousands of Irish firms are unprepared for planned changes in accounting practises.

The changeover to international accounting standards is due to come into force before 2005 as part of an EU initiative.

The IACI has called on the Government to make a decision on the application of the new standards as has been done in Britain.
