Nasdaq Japan unsure about future
Nasdaq Japan Inc representatives said they are unsure whether the company will make an announcement this afternoon or next week on the future of the company.
"We don't know if there will be any announcement today. We are not sure whether it will be an announcement this afternoon or maybe next week," said Naho Yohda, manager of media and marketing.
Earlier, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun business daily reported that Nasdaq Japan will announce today the suspension of some of its operations, including soliciting companies for new listings on the Nasdaq Japan Market.
Nasdaq Japan will maintain its partnership with the Osaka Securities Exchange through the end of the year, and continue to allow investors to trade issues listed on the Nasdaq Japan Market, it said.
The brand name of Nasdaq Japan will also be retained until the end of the year and it will consider a merger with another stock market for start-ups, it added.
