BOI championship most associated sponsorship
The Bank of Ireland Football Championship is the most spontaneously associated sponsorship in Ireland, with 47% of adults identifying the bank as the sponsor of the Football Championship, according to a new report.
The Guinness Hurling Championship lies in second place, with 42% of adults identifying Guinness as the sponsors.
The third is the Murphy’s Irish Open and the fourth is the Budweiser Irish Derby.
The research was conducted by Irish Marketing Surveys in an omnibus survey, with questions asked of a nationally representative sample of 1,200 people above the age of 15.
Bank of Ireland has sponsored the Football Championship for nine years.
During the 2001 Bank of Ireland Championship the GAA earned a staggering €27,934,237.73 in gate receipts from both football and hurling, averaging €1,269,738.07 per week to the association.
The Bank of Ireland will spend €1m this year on advertising and marketing campaigns.
