Spotlight on systems to boost stability
The conference will focus on financial markets, terrorism and the environment.
Larry Stapleton, head of INSYTE, a research centre in the field of information systems and organisations at WIT, said the conference will bring together scientists and professionals from all over the globe who are trying to establish systems to create a more stable world.
“SWIIS 2012 is an important opportunity to showcase Irish research and innovation, significantly improving the profile of WIT, the South-East region, and Ireland generally as a world-class location for advanced technology research and innovation which addresses local and international policy issues.
“This improves the international profile of Irish research capacity in innovative new areas of science and engineering which have not received much attention to date such as systems which address international stability issues,” Mr Stapleton said.
He said there are serious commercial prospects to come out of the research into stability issues.
One of the speakers is Professor David Martin, the chief executive and founder of M-CAM.
M-CAM is a US patent analysis company that uses stability and systems engineering research to conduct risk and market analysis for both the public and private sector.
Mr Stapleton said the event, which takes place between June 11 and 13, will strengthen Ireland’s international reputation as an innovative country.
“This event therefore strengthens Ireland’s international profile as a driver of research and innovation in technologies.”
