Datalex secures airline deal
The Irish Examiner has confirmed that a contract with a top four US airline, carrying in excess of 100m passengers a year, has been signed with Datalex this week. It is expected an announcement will be made in the coming days.
The company is also in advanced negotiations with a Chinese airline and if this is successfully completed the company will add at lease eight new clients to its portfolio this year, which includes United Airlines, Air China, Aer Lingus, Frontier Airlines, Air Malta, Copa Airlines, Philippine Airlines, South African Airways, STA Travel and Spanair.
Yesterday, Datalex announced that it has reduced losses and increased cash balances in the first six months of the year over the same period of 2010.
The Clontarf-based company yesterday reported a loss before tax of $1.9m (€1.3m) for the first six months of this year, 14% lower than the $2.2m loss a year earlier. The company’s cash reserves increased by 11% from $8.4m to $9.3m year-on-year.
Total revenue in the period was $13.3m, up 1.3% on the same period in 2010. Transaction revenue in the period was $6.0m (2010 H1: $6.7m). The company said reduction in H1 2011 compared to the same period in 2010 is due to the completion of two contracts in December 2010.
Chief executive Cormac Whelan said the performance of continuing customers showed further growth.
“We are confident that this growth, together with the new customers that have gone live and are about to go live in 2011, will deliver transaction revenue growth of 7% for FY 2011, compared to 2010,” he added.
