Booklet packed full of advice for farmers and fishing sector workers
The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has packed a wealth of invaluable information into its newly updated Schemes and Services booklet, formally launched at this week’s Ploughing in Athy, Co Kildare.
Minister Brendan Smith said: “My department places great value on those involved in the agriculture, fishing and forestry sectors and their major contribution to the Irish economy.
“To assist them, we have produced this booklet to provide a comprehensive guide to all of the schemes and services provided, from animal health and welfare, the numerous support measures that are in place, our food safety controls and many other services.”
The booklet guides farmers on income management and taxation, PRSI for farm spouses, farm partnerships and information relating to the Revenue Commissioners.
It covers breeding and hygiene advice, disease and food safety controls, plus certification schemes.
The information is also available on the department’s website.
