Frankfurt: Intel, the world’s largest chipmaker, is close to an agreement to buy Infineon Technologies’ wireless business.

Intel closes in on wireless business

An announcement could come as early as this week. Infineon, Europe’s second-largest chipmaker, is seeking about €1.5 billion for its wireless business.

Infineon’s mobile business, which makes processors used in Apple’s iPhone, would help Intel get its chips into a larger array of devices.
