Cost of Anglo probe to date €1m

THE Director of Corporate Enforcement said the cost of his investigation into Anglo Irish Bank has hit €1 million, while the report will still take months to finalise.

Paul Appleby warned yesterday it will take “several months’ work” to complete the job before he will be in a position to send his findings to the DPP .

Speaking at the launch of the ODCE’s annual report for 2009, he said the investigation was complex and, since early last year,his office had acquired “millions of hard copy and electronic documents” relating to all aspects of the case.
