IRELAND’s former richest man, Sean Quinn, has confirmed that state investigations into his family’s financial dealings with Anglo Irish Bank have been widened.

BOTH of the country’s top banks said last night they were satisfied with the status of the loans each has with its directors and senior executives.

BANKERS who broke the law to feed their greed will wind up behind bars, Justice Minister Dermot Ahern pledged.

A RECORD number of investigations into allegations of dodgy dealings by company directors was undertaken by the corporate enforcement watchdog last year.

The Dáil will hear a private members motion tonight calling on the Government to make Irish banks more accountable to the public.
