Guide to agricultural courses launched as demand increases
As a result, the points required for entry to third-level courses are rising in tandem with the industry’s demand for educated and innovative graduates.
To showcase the courses available in one comprehensive resource, Agri Aware has launched Food Routes – Your Guide to Agriculture and Food Courses.
The booklet, and a website, supported by Teagasc and the Agricultural Science Association (ASA), will answer all the questions students should ask.
Teagasc head of education Paddy Browne said: “It is a very exciting time for the industry, with equally exciting opportunities available in Ireland and around the world,” he said
ASA president Frank O’Mara said it is vital to encourage the brightest and most creative students to enter a career that will challenge them in a very rewarding manner.
The booklet will be distributed to all career guidance, home economics, agricultural science teachers and all social welfare resource centres. The website www.foodroutes.ie will also be online next week.
