Aer Lingus launch Cork-Gatwick route
Cork Airport marketing manager Kevin Cullinane said the news represented a great boost for Cork.
“It is a major vote of confidence in the Cork region. I am sure the announcement will be welcomed by the travelling public as well as by our region’s tourism and business communities. Cork Airport has always sought to provide its customers with a choice of airlines and destinations and this announcement is a further step in achieving this,” Mr Cullinane said.
Enda Corneille, Aer Lingus corporate affairs director, said the new twice daily service from Cork to Gatwick will give customers more choice and greater flexibility and, furthermore, ease of access to the southeast of England.
“The new service will complement our four daily services between Cork and London Heathrow and will further strengthen business, leisure and connecting traffic between the south of Ireland and London,” Mr Corneille said.
From March 6 the new service will depart London Gatwick daily at 6.50am, arriving in Cork at 8.15am and depart Cork at 9.55am arriving in London Gatwick at 11.20am.
The evening flight will leave London Gatwick at 5.50pm, arriving in Cork at 7.15pm, with the return flight departing Cork at 9pm, arriving in Gatwick at 10.25pm.
Aer Lingus already operates year round services from Cork to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Birmingham, Lanzarote, London Heathrow, Malaga, Manchester, Munich, Paris, Rome and Tenerife, with seasonal services operating to Alicante, Faro, Geneva, Lisbon and Nice.
