ISEQ index ends losing streak

THE ISEQ index ended a three day losing streak closing up 27.65 points at 2,693.34 points. Markets throughout the world were relatively quiet as Wall Street was closed for July 4 celebrations.

Investors were cautious with many taking profits.

In the financial sector, AIB weakened 5c to 1.65, Bank of Ireland gained 1c to 1.54, Irish Life & Permanent shed 11c to 3.20, while FBD Holdings slid 3c to 6.99. In the construction sector, CRH jumped 43c to 15.96, Kingspan declined 14c to 3.95, while shares in Grafton dropped by 5c to 2.54 after it says it continues to experience the most challenging trading conditions in decades.

In other news, C&C progressed 21c to 2.69, Ryanair advanced 5c to 3.23, Paddy Power fell 60c to 16.40, Elan was 15c stronger at 5.85 while Kerry Group rose 35c to 17.05.
