Markets rise across Europe

THE ISEQ index closed up 49.28 points at 2,675.23 yesterday in line with markets throughout Europe.

The financial stocks had a miserable day. AIB finished down 2c at €2.25, Bank of Ireland fell 7c to €1.04, Irish Life & Permanent dipped 8c to €1.72 while Anglo Irish Bank dived 12c to 43c.

Brokers said that there was little news driving the selling of the stock.
