EU payment recipients to be published

THE names of all recipients of European Union agricultural and rural development payments will be published in detail on the internet by the end of April next year.

A search tool will enable the public to see how much money each person or company received.

Agriculture and Rural Development Commissioner Mariann Fischer Boel, writing on her blog, states that the importance of this development cannot be overstated.

“This is taxpayers’ money, so it is very important people know where it is being spent.

”I strongly believe that transparency will improve the management of these funds, by reinforcing public control of how the money is used.”
