THE ISEQ index yesterday gained ground again as the financials clawed back some of the recent losses.

The Irish exchange closed 38.63 higher at 7,197.56.

The banks ended in positive territory yesterday with AIB up 13c to €15.43 and Bank of Ireland 3c higher at €10.40. Anglo Irish jumped 40c to €10.40 while Irish Life & Permanent added 85c to €15.15.

In construction, CRH fell 76c to €24.24 while Kingspan climbed 37c to €14.37 and Grafton tacked on 9c to €7.

Elsewhere, the Supreme Court awarded costs to Fyffes in its legal action against DCC which had provided for €50m as an exceptional charge in its recent interim report. The stock fell 42c to €19.57. Fyffes added 1c to 97c.
