The ISEQ index closed up 16.19 points at 7,597.97 as a stream of positive news hit the market.

In the financial sector AIB added 12c to close at €18.77 while Bank of Ireland remained unchanged at €13.85.

Anglo Irish fell 12c to €17.73 and Irish life & Permanent also lost 8c to close at €18.12.

C&C Group announced revenue and operating profits, for the first four months of the year, were ahead of expectations. The share price jumped 71c to €7.72 as a result.

Construction giant CRH strengthened 27c on the day at €27.20 while Grafton moved 17c ahead to €10.39 and Kingspan dipped 5c to €13.35.

Elsewhere, DCC announced it completed a deal to buy Carlton Fuels for €13.3 million pushing the share price 42c higher to €19.22. Ryanair rallied during the session, storming 16c higher to €7.68.
