AS with the current good weather, the Irish Market had an upbeat day to close trading 64.36 points up on 5220.25.

Leading Irish Pharmaceutical Elan shined brightest on the day to close up 81c to €18.86. The recent news of company filing for FDA approval for MS drug Antegren, attributing to the upward spiral in value.

To complement this, the banks had a much-needed good day, seeing the three main financials posting decent gains. AIB surged forward 26c to €11.98. Bank of Ireland traded strongly on good value stepping up to €10.10, 18c better with five million shares traded. Anglo echoed the progress by adding 20c to €13.10.
