Dublin: Consumers do not blame the food and drink industry for the increase in obesity in Ireland according to new research.

Delegates at the Food and Drinks Industry Ireland (FDII) conference heard recent research by the Food Safety Promotions Board found consumers felt better diets and healthier lifestyles would help combat weight-related problems.

FDII director Ciaran Fitzgerald said it was easy to use the food and drink industry as a scapegoat for increased obesity.
