DNG launches national franchise operation
Douglas Newman Good, a main player in the capital and 21 years in business, is rolling out its own nationwide brand from this month.
It follows market leader Sherry FitzGerald which made the country's initial property franchise move five years ago.
DNG Nationwide aims to have 25 members signed up by year's end, says DNG's Michael Glynn, and will pursue the number one slot over the next few years.
Heads of agreement with the first batch of prospective member firms are currently being finalised, with confirmation of signings likely by month's end, according to Mr Glynn.
An active recruitment drive in is train in Munster, Leinster and Connaught, and further approaches will be made by nationwide advertising and direct contact. Members are likely to pay about 6% to 7% of turnover, slightly under Sherry FitzGerald's 8% levy.
At present, Douglas Newman Good has 16 Dublin offices, and a staff of 89.
At present, Sherry FitzGerald has 90 branded offices around the country. Another co-operatively owned franchise, Property Partners, has about 70 offices. Other franchise players include REMAX and ERA, both with US or overseas associations, Real Estate Alliance and Property Team.
The arrival of DNG adds more pressure to the country's non-aligned estate agency firms some of whom may now jump at this latest offering.
According to the company, weekly nationwide media advertising and branding, combined with access to the Dublin market (at a time of Government commitment to decentralisation) will be key drivers to membership for DNG.
Headed up by managing director Paul Newman, DNG claims to be the largest seller of second-hand property in the Dublin region.
Tony Forte will run the franchise side of the operation, while Michael Glynn will oversee technology investment and mortgage marketing through sister company GMC Mortgages.
