Irish market bucks European trend

EUROPEAN bourses ended the week in the red yesterday, but the Irish market bucked the trend managing to stay ahead throughout the day's trading. By the closing bell, the ISEQ was just 4.23 points stronger at 6644.13.

The financials were mixed, with Bank of Ireland and Anglo Irish Bank both gaining ground, adding 4c and 8c respectively. AIB lost 8c off its share price, finishing at €17.42. Jurys Doyle added 5c to €17.05.

DCC, which said that it has acquired Belgian Company AB Computing for €7.8 million, jumped 26c to €18.38.
