Revenue staff relocation submissions close

Up to half a dozen proposals from developers were submitted to provide suitable new office accommodation worth up to €30 million for Revenue employees due to vacate existing offices on Sullivan’s Quay.

The submissions will not be opened until Tuesday.

The move is set to be the largest office transaction in Cork, and has been highly prized by developers with suitable sites or alternative office accommodation.

Among the expected front-runners to have pitched sites, for lease or for sale, are McCarthy Developments, with planning permission granted in the last week for a 100,000sq ft office development on Centre Park Road, and Paul Kenny, who this week lodged for permission to redevelop buildings on Patrick’s Quay and Ship Street, near Kent Rail station.

Also expected to have been in the picture is the Shipton Group/Love family, with office planning permissions in Blackpool - just within the geographical two-mile radius stipulation of Kent Rail Station.

The existing tax office at Sullivan’s Quay on three quarters of an acre is set to form part of a trade-off on any relocation deal.
