Tropical Storm Hilary made landfall along Mexico’s Baja California coast on Sunday, no longer a hurricane but still packing what forecasters called “life-threatening” rain likely to unleash flooding across a broad region of the western US.

Hilary hit the coast in a sparsely populated area about 150 miles (250 kilometers) south of the city of Ensenada, Mexico.
