Vitamin K levels could play part in keeping lungs healthy, study suggests
Vitamin K is found in green leafy vegetables, such as broccoli and spinach, as well as vegetable oils and cereal grains.
People with higher levels of vitamin K – found in broccoli and spinach among other foods – could have better lung function compared with those with lower levels, a preliminary study suggests.
Researchers found that people with higher levels of vitamin K – which the body needs for blood clotting, helping wounds to heal – were less likely to have asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or have a wheeze.
