Grenoble attack: Man's head 'attached to entrance grille outside factory'

One man has been beheaded and at least two have been injured in an attack on a factory in the south-east of France.

French officials said the attack began mid-morning in the Isere region when the men crashed the car into the entrance of the factory and into gas canisters sparking an explosion.

The body and banners with Arabic writing on were found near the factory entrance.

According to local media, the decpaitated head was attached to a grille at the entrance to the factory and employees saw it as they were starting to arrive at the factory around 10am today.

Local reports also say the decapitated man was not an employee of the factory.

One man who is reported to be known to police, has been arrested. It is reported he claimed alliance to Islamic State.

Local media say an Islamist flag was also found near the scene.

France correspondent with the Telegraph Henry Samuel reported: "Two men onboard a vehicle rammed the factory. They were carrying bottles of gas in the vehicle.

"There was an explosion and two employees of the factory were injured in that.

He said the developing story was still quite unclear but what he had heard was that a man who had been decapitated was found inside the factory.

France went on high alert in January after extremist brothers Said and Cherif Kouachi killed 12 people – including two police officers – in attacks on satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris.

France's anti-terror prosecutor said today's attack was carried out by "a terrorist group".
