Man claims popcorn habit affected life, sues supermarket

A US man is suing a supermarket after he ate too much popcorn.

Wayne Watson claims he has developed a chronic lung condition from eating too much of the snack and believes the King Soopers store should have had a clear indication on the packaging that the butter flavouring could be dangerous in large quantities.

He had a three-packets-a-day habit.

Wayne's has an illness called bronchiolitis obliterans, which is commonly known as Popcorn Lung.

He claims it has affected his quality of life and means he cannot walk as far as he used to, the Daily Mail reports.

In response to his allegation that the supermarket sold an unsafe product and did not warn customers about the potential dangers, King Soopers claimed his condition was the result of a career selling carpet-cleaning fluid.
