Hundreds rally against asylum seekers in Serbia
Hundreds of people have rallied in a town in western Serbia demanding action on asylum seekers from Africa and the Middle East who have arrived in large numbers.
The residents of Banja Koviljaca are urging the government to deal with the issue.
They say their town of 7,000 people on the border with Bosnia cannot accommodate the mounting numbers of migrants.
Banja Koviljaca hosts one of Serbia's two asylum centres, but it is overcrowded, and asylum seekers as well as illegal immigrants hoping to reach western Europe, have been renting rooms in the town, or sleeping in cellars or garages.
The protest today came after a British woman staying at the local spa was allegedly raped. A man from Afghanistan has been arrested.
No incidents were reported at the rally.
