A US man has been accused of stealing a phone from a woman he later asked to be his friend on a social networking site.

According to the authorities, Juan Gonzales Jr. - who was arrested for burglary and theft - is thought to have taken the gadget from an unsuspecting woman who woke up early one morning in her home to find him in her room.
