Galliano to face race abuse trial
Fashion designer John Galliano is to face trial in connection with his alleged racial insults.
Prosecutors in Paris said said today that the case could take place in the next three months, and Galliano could face up to six months in prison and up to €22,000 in fines, if convicted.
The news came shortly after the 50-year-old designer apologised for his behaviour following his sacking by fashion house Christian Dior as creative director over anti-Semitic remarks.
Video of an drunken Galliano praising Hitler and the subsequent firing of one of the industry’s most talented and moneymaking designers has sent shock waves through Paris Fashion Week, which began yesterday.
