Leapfrogging into the record books

1,300 people set a new record for the world's Largest Game of Leapfrog today.

Record attempts are being made around the world today for Guinness World Record Day - with the leapfroggers jumping over each other's backs in Singapore to set the huge new total.

The leapfrogging category has come a long way since 2006, when the same record was set by a Women's Leap Frog Team with just forty-nine leaps.

Other record attempts were broken in France, with dancers from the world-famous Moulin Rouge setting a record for the Most Consecutive High Kicks by a Single Chorus Line, scoring 720, while in Holland The Largest Tug of War Tournament was achieved by 1,290 participants.

Over in Canada The Largest Macarena Dance happened, involving 1,861 participants.

Meanwhile American Ashrita Furman - the man who holds the record for the Most current Guinness World Records Held at the Same Time - added another to his list, with the record for Heaviest Shoes Walked In, moving 10 metres wearing shoes weighing 323lb, in London. Ashrita, who has been breaking records since 1979, now holds 122 records in total.

He said: "I'm honoured to do this on Guinness World Records Day in London. About half way through the attempt my legs just didn't want to move, but I somehow managed to find the strength to keep going".
