Mexico’s trade deficit has risen by 17% in the first nine months of the year as compared to the same period of 2007, largely due to a spike in imports and a decline in oil export revenues.

Mexico’s trade deficit has risen by 17% in the first nine months of the year as compared to the same period of 2007, largely due to a spike in imports and a decline in oil export revenues.

The National Statistics Institute reported that the deficit more than tripled in September as compared to the same month of 2007, rising to $2.68bn (€3.33bn).

The deficit for the first nine months of the year totalled $8.38bn (€10.42bn).
